Kidney Beans

The kidney bean is a variety of the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris). It is named for its visual resemblance in shape and – for the red variety – colour to a human kidney. There are different classifications of kidney beans, such as: Red kidney bean also known as common kidney bean, Light speckled kidney bean, Red speckled kidney bean and White kidney bean.

Benefits: Kidney beans are an excellent plant-based source of protein. They’re also rich in various minerals, vitamins, fibers, antioxidants, and other unique plant compounds. Therefore, these beans may aid weight loss, promote colon health, and moderate blood sugar levels. Kidney beans contain carbohydrates, negligible fat, folate, iron, phosphorus, with moderate amounts of thiamine, copper, magnesium, and zinc.
